Did you ask yourself these 3 questions? PLUS my Holiday Gift.
Hello there, Cheryl here, award winning coach, international best-selling author. I advise organizations, coach entrepreneurs and executives and I work with individuals. Welcome to this particular episode.
As we draw to the end of the year, can you imagine, we are three weeks short to the new year! I thought I will share with you three must ask questions that I ask myself every single year as a means of reflection for the year and at the same time a means of leapfrogging into the new year. These are my three questions.
The very first question is – “ What are my wins this year?” So my question to you. What are your wins this year? No matter how small or how large they are, what are your wins? Have you celebrated? I want to be celebrating with you so share with me below what are your wins. Why? Because when you go out and play at the field, when you go out and navigate in your careers, when you go out and try something new as an entrepreneur, you know, you will have wins. No matter how small the wins, it’s a demonstration that you have gone out and you have taken action and you see the momentum and you will move on. That’s what I want to be celebrating. So what are your wins this year? Start from a position of strength as we get into the new year.
My win this year is I’ve been able to see a team coming together and supporting the business and we are all poised for tremendous growth and tremendous excitement, tremendous engagement of our community in the coming year.
My second question every year I ask myself is quite the opposite of the first question. That is what’s my greatest failure this year? What are the lessons that I learnt? Again, why is that important? Because you would know that environment around us are getting very uncertain, very volatile. One of the responses is that we hold back, we just keep within ourselves. We are no longer have the adventurous spirit. We know, if you are in the corporate arena and you don’t have the adventurous spirit, you will get stuck. You don’t feel progress. You don’t dare to navigate. If you’re an entrepreneur, you can’t lose that adventurous spirit, that’s basically what business is about. Entrepreneurship is about experimentation. It’s about being on an adventure. It’s about testing.
If you’ve tested, gone full out and play full on there will be lessons of failure. Again, no matter how big, no matter how small, more importantly what have we learnt from those failures. My learning for this year is we have expanded too quickly – we have gone into many different business lines and we are now looking at what we can do to prune and truly serve our clients, our audience, our community at the highest level. That’s a precious, precious lesson that I have learned. Again, share with me below what are some of your failures and what are your learning.
Question number three has to do with what stories have we heard this year that we really need to let go. We need to like leave it behind. Right? You might have heard me say this before. The conversations that we have become the themes of our lives. What is a story that you need to be leaving behind so that it doesn’t become a stumbling block? Sometimes, we call this a limiting belief. I like to say it’s a story that we leave behind and leave it behind us as we move forward.
My story that I would like to leave behind is once again this story that crept up on me. “Who are you to be sharing this message? Who are you to be doing this?” I realized then no, I have a mission. My mission is to help others live a life most excellent. As an entrepreneur, as an executive, to live a life that’s happy, that’s joyful, that’s vibrant, that’s meaningful in whatever they do. They thrive in their work and business and live a vibrant life. That I got to keep front and centre and leave the story of “who are you” to be behind me and move forward. What is your story that you need to be leaving behind? What story are you replacing that with? I love to hear that because I think that’s most interesting, how we can break through some of this stuff so that we can truly see a great true year coming ahead?
